I've been talking to a friend (who also draws) about my work and drawing in general. She was able to give me some tips, and somewhat reignited my desire to actually create again. I've spent time perusing various digital tutorials on YouTube and trying new things in my recent works. I'm a bit embarrassed to admit that, only after having/using Photoshop for almost a decade have I finally started taking advantage of keyboard shortcuts (and its incredible, the difference they can make!). I've also discovered that watching other people livestream is not only inspiring, but quite relaxing.

I'm hoping to keep this drive up.

Have you found a specific tutorial and/or livestream to be helpful? I'd love if you would share the link in the comments.

I'm still here, still sketching. I truly didn't mean to go so long without submitting, but life has taken a couple interesting turns...some good, some bad, nothing insurmountable.

I've got some sketches in the works, and a CG piece for a friend that is long overdue.

Fast Autumn

1 min read
Free time is at a premium for me right now because of the grad classes I've picked up eating up all my time. Class ends 11/20, and I can't wait. I miss drawing and reading for pleasure. I've also started a new role at work, which led to overtime while I transitioned, but they've finally filled my old position so that should let up shortly....

...which just leaves me to deal with the craziness of the impending holidays.

I started deviantArt in August of 2003 after being introduced to it by a fellow marching band member.  Being a part of the dA community has definitely impacted my work by exposing me to various styles and works that came to inspire my own.  Growing up, prior to dA I was finding anthro works posted in various online forums and galleries, but never a collection like dA.  Being on this site introduced me to things like collaborations with other artists and community wide projects.  It gave me a place where I would ask for and give assistance on projects.

I've met some really great people during my years here as well.  Its been interesting seeing the works of people I've followed since I joined evolve to what they are today. There are races, species and genres I don't think I would've ever come across had I not been a part of this community.

These are just a few of the works from artists who lit the spark in me:

<da:thumb id="12352729"/>  Faux Fo and a Kayiko by fallout161  Can't fight the seether by firekitty  a VERY classy lady by sashamya  My Fuzzy by bluefreak  Sebastian by CrescentVenus  <da:thumb id="18761340"/><da:thumb id="369260872"/>  050607 konatanu by rosebesch

You may notice that most of these are older works....these are what inspired me as a starting artist. My idols have since changed, but I wanted to give homage to the ones that helped me establish my roots.
